Information About this Website and What it Can Do For You

With classrooms becoming so diverse, how can technology be used to help?

This was the central question that sparked the idea behind the creation of this site. With the abundant resources of the internet increasing exponentially and computer and handheld technology improving with each passing year, one would think that education could harness these to solve some of the issues faced in today’s schools. Teaching to diverse groups of students can prove difficult and even overwhelming for some educators. So, how could technology help?

The Purpose of Tech4Di.com

This website was built to provide information for educators and others who are interested in how the different and abundant technologies that exist can help with teaching to the diverse classrooms that can be found throughout the U.S. and the world. As such, the organization and selection of online and computer technology tools that are included and discussed on this site were based on their ability to help Differentiate Instruction in K-12 classrooms. Differentiated Instruction, as discussed by Dr. Carol Ann Tomlinson, is an approach to teaching where educators use information gathered about students to tailor instruction flexibly to their needs for success. The information for this site is based on the research of a graduate student from the University of North Dakota that looked through the current literature about this topic. The findings from that literature review have provided the structure and information needed to put this site together.
