About: Kurzweil 3000 is software for the computer that serves not only as a text reader, but has many other tools to help differentiate for struggling and mainstream students. Tools such as text customization, pop up dictionary and thesaurus (with bilingual support), visual and picture hints/representations, vocabulary aids and tutoring, comprehension builders, and much more. This tool can allow struggling readers to have access to the same material that mainstream students use in the classroom (Kurzweil 3000 can access online materials as well) and from a study with Iowa students, found that they could increase their reading speed with the tool dramatically to match or be close to the grade level readers. The tool can be used for all students as well with its study skills tools, such as highlighters and notations that can be exported into outline notes for students.
